ART PROJECTS 2022

Beatrice Alemagna Let's go to the park

Exhibition Period Mar 5–May 1, 2022
Opening Mar 5, 11 am–4 pm

Get to know the acclaimed children's book illustrator Beatrice Alemagna in a combined exhibition and workshop where we dive deep into her world of images based on the book Let’s go to the park [Vi går till parken]. Experience the original drawings, read and be inspired to draw your own figures that will be part of the exhibition.

Let's go to the park

Beatrice Alemagna (b. 1973, Bologna works in Paris) began to draw playgrounds in Paris and from her drawings a conversation grew between her and the author Sara Stridsberg about freedom and dreams. The collaboration became the picture book Let’s go to the park [Vi går till parken], a poetic story about play and friendship that contains magnificent landscapes, small ants and tempting climbing structures.

All around, children balance, climb, read, wait and rest while they invent and discover the world through playing. We have built a miniature climbing structure in the exhibition. Take inspiration from Alemagna’s drawing technique and populate it with your own characters. Bring siblings, friends or grandchildren and sit down and create, on site we have material influenced by the artist’s studio.

The exhibition is the first in the new art workshop that consolidates learning as an important part of Wanås Konst's activities all year round and emphasizes the importance of participation and experiments. The art workshop expands the visit to Wanås Konst for visitors of all ages and gives more people the opportunity to participate in some form of creative creation in connection with their visit. We look forward to bring you new offers!

Beatrice Alemagna (b. 1973) comes from Bologna in Italy but has lived in Paris since 1996.
