Stefan Wewerka began his career as an architect, but explored a wider variety of directions in his art. When he created The Little Bridge, his source of inspiration was two historical bridges in the park, one dating back to the Middle Ages and one from the 1820s. He added a pedestrian bridge, its form reminiscent of town bridges such as the Rialto in Venice, or the UNESCO world heritage site Stari Most in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many artists at Wan\u00e5s have created works that invite audience participation in various ways. We step up onto Jene Highstein\u2019s concrete sculpture, climb around in Jacob Dahlgren\u2019s Primary Structure<\/em>, and write on pieces of paper for Yoko Ono\u2019s wish trees. Wewerka\u2019s bridge can be seen as the earliest artwork in this tradition at Wan\u00e5s in that the artwork has a function and can be used by visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
