Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg combine riotously colorful and unnerving content with music. Painful experiences are central, the human mixes with the animalistic, and sex and humor are ever-present. In the work In Dreams, nature is the starting point but it has been transformed. In a different proportion and color scheme, as in a dream world, we meet the simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar. Djurberg references Alice in Wonderland in the work and describes the sculpture group as a teenage party: “The teenager’s conviction, with that fantastic self-assurance, that she/he knows absolutely everything and has a firm grasp on reality has been displaced; it is like waking up with one foot in this world and the other in an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ world.”
