About
Welcome to Lilla Bokskogen – a new children’s literature initiative at Wanås Konst in the form of a picture book festival for children, young people and their adults! In fall 2026, we welcome four internationally active picture book creators to read, talk and create together with Wanås Konst’s friends and audience.
On Saturday, October 24, Lilla Bokskogen takes over this fall’s Göingedagen with a packed full-day program, including a creative workshop with Maria Jönsson, an exciting dinosaur talk with Sarah Sheppard and creative workshops for kids and grown-ups alike with Sara Lundberg.
Maria Jönsson – Lots of Insects! (ages 5+, 1 hr)
Maria reads aloud from her books, and then we make our own insects from all kinds of materials.
Sara Lundberg – A Dream House from a Single Sheet of Paper (ages 5+, adults and children take part together, 1 hr)
We make our own little paper houses and decorate them with materials from nature. The houses become little lanterns that glow in the fall darkness.
Sarah Sheppard – Dino Talk (ages 5+, 1 hr)
Sarah tells us about the wonderful time on Earth when there were dinosaurs everywhere! After the talk, she shows off her small fossil collection. Anyone who wants to can come up and touch a Spinosaurus tooth and a 150-million-year-old piece of dinosaur poop.
The festival gets a sneak start with an international visit from the Norwegian-American illustrator and children’s book author Max Estes, who will hold workshops in Wanås Studio together with primary school students from the local area.
Lilla Bokskogen is a collaboration between Wanås Konst and the festivals Bildvärld/Gränsland and Litteralund, and has been made possible with support from Region Skåne and the Swedish Arts Council.
Göingedagen at Wanås Konst is made possible with support from Sparbankstiftelsen Skåne and the Municipality of Östra Göinge.

How: The festival coincides with Göingedagen, when Wanås Konst offers free admission to everyone.
