Jason Rhoades (1965–2006) interpreted various contemporary phenomena through sculptural total installations marked by chaos, provocation, and humor. In 1996, he created the work Frigidaire (Cold Wind), which filled the ground floor of the Wanås barn with a legendary installation featuring IKEA-related objects, graffiti-painted fiberglass horses, and hunting trophies.

Elements of the 1996 installation have a permanent home in the sculpture park, which will be revisited during the 2025 season with a series of programs and an archival exhibition offering insight into the artist’s process through photographs, videos, and stories. Alongside the exhibition, visitors will have the chance to draw inspiration from Rhoades’ artistic practicein an open creative workshop.
