From wood, metal and stone, Richard Nonas creates abstract and geometric sculptures and installations. He combines the restrained idiom of minimalism with an interest in culture and human behavior. In 1998, Nonas created Some Comfort, which was part of an exhibition shown at Waldermarsudde, Stockholm, and Wanås Konst the same year. 16 artists, architects, and designers, such as Kari Cavén, Jenny Holzer, and Peter Johansson & Nike Karlsson, participated in the projects. At Wanås, benches by Johan Celsing, Lone Larsen, Sara Szyber, and Karin Tyrefors remain. In the park, visitors will also find Nonas’ La Colonne Terminée III, made of 40 large boulders and one of the earliest artworks to become a permanent fixture in the park.
