The saplings are planted to form ”Srinivasa Prasad”, the artist’s signature written in Kannada. About 38 million people speak Kannada in India. ”Srinivasa” together with ”Prasad” means ”God’s Blessing.” The artist is creating a walk, we can enter his name. Journey and movement recur as a theme in Prasad’s work and the journey is a central element in the Hindu tradition of reincarnation. The labyrinth is a place to pass through, but it is also associated with nature’s cycles. Sacrifice for good crops is one of many interpretations of the symbolism of the ancient pattern. Prasad often uses nature as the site for his art and as material. The organic materials can disappear and fertilise the soil. Like our existence, they are transient. Prasad signs the ground, but not merely as a motif but as an invitation.
