Marianna Uutinen created two hearts for the exhibition at Wanås in 1994. One, no longer in the park, was a black heart made from diabase. For the other, she chose to work with Vånga granite which, like diabase, is mined locally. To parallel The Hearts in the park, Uutinen created the installation Carry Me Home in the Barn. In the old building, the walls were hung with mirrors covered in pink, sticky silicone, resembling shapeless, flattened bubbles. They were combined with text fragments in the same pink material, inspired by the site and taken from her diary. The installation is typical of her oeuvre, in which she investigates the banal, kitschy, feminine, and erotic in relation to color, shape, and scale.
