Wanås Konst produces, exhibits, and facilitates art. The program is inspired by conversations with international artists about the subjects that shape their artistic practices. The sculpture park forms the heart of the organization, featuring nearly 80 permanent works. Each year, artists from around the world are invited to create temporary works for the unique landscape on-site, with one or more of these works added to the permanent collection annually.

The seasons influence the experience of the artworks, and each year a program is designed around the collection and temporary exhibitions. Art also inspires all of the pedagogical activities. In many ways, Wanås Konst has been a pioneer in the Nordic countries when it comes to creating a site-specific sculpture park and working with various types of artists and artistic practices to create outdoor works that expand the idea of what a permanent “sculpture” can be. The interaction between the unique, constantly shifting nature and the art, with both permanent and new works, ensures that no walk through the sculpture park is ever the same.
